Now You See It...

In a few days, my Hubby will hang the tv over the fireplace in the family room. I cringe everytime I think of it because while we need a tv in there, I don't like the look.

I chose a photo where the tv didn't look too bad but I still don't love that look. Great space though!

So, I would like to thank the little genius that came up with the tv hideaway..

John Richard Collection Plasma TV Entertainment Cabinet

Chinoiserie Plasma TV Cabinet

I found others but these are the only two styles I would consider. It's great that both are on sale as well.

Come to think of it, I could totally make my own mounted tv cabinet. I could customize it to fit the room's decor. Does anyone have a DIY to share?

Fab Finds

I've done it to myself again. I've tortured myself again with furniture eye candy from the stylish vintage store, Again & Again.

Leslie Pritchard, owner of Again & Again
Let's take a moment to behold that fabulous oversize Chinioserie lamp... the color, the shape, the fabulousness!!! It's making me sick that I don't have it in my possession. SICK!!

Have a look-see at more of Leslie's fabulous finds:

Ugh, I'm DYING!!! An Art Deco mirrored headboard.
A Baroque headboard with antiqued mirrors. *faints*

Rope Chairs. LOVE!! I would love them in an ivory silk.

Clam dining chair.. I see these chairs everywhere except in my house. How perfect would this lacquered beauty be for a vanity chair or chair for the bathroom?

Fab Bergere chairs... they look so comfy with those down feather filled seat cushions.

Greek Key Kilsmos chairs!

Get the smelling salts.. I'm about to pass out! Burled wood AND mirrors. This would be dope in my husband's office.

More rope chairs but this time for your dining room. *tears*

I have never seen a Chinoiserie desk like this. My daughter would LOVE IT!!

She often has Brutalist pieces... and now I'm inspired to stack some Brutalist cabinets. Such a fresh, innovative way to use the cabinets for a whole new look and feel.  How FAB is that!

THIS. TABLE. IS. ABSOLUTELY. EVERYTHING!!! I would run through the streets naked for this Zebra wood table! How insanely BOSS would it be for an office desk? My office desk...

Tall marble vases. I LOVE the veining and coloring.. My living room wants one of these.

These lamps are cool. Very Kelly Wearstler, don't you think?
I need to plan a trip to Dallas and pay Again & Again a visit. I must see this store in person.

Like anything? Have you been to Again & Again?

This, That Or Neither

I'm moving along with the family room decor.. I need additional seating and have two chairs in mind.

This chair is spacious and adds a little lightness to the room. I love the legs and the nailhead detail. It's also lighter in person.. more natural than the beige-y color shown.

My other choice is this one:

I like the pattern on this chair, surprisingly. It's black and light grey. I think it would add an interesting look to the pattern-less family room.

Any thoughts?

I just love a deliciously, sexy shoe. I would be a glamazon with these 6" beauties!

Mirrored Pillows

So, we finally received our sofa and let's just say, there needs to be some zhushing. With the black bookshelves and the graphite sofa and dark floors... it's waaaay too dark in the family room.

The fuschia paint may be just what the doctor ordered. This room needs some COLOR!!

In addition, it needs some snazzy accessories and these mirrored throw pillows have my name all over them!

I love how the mirrored white pillows give the gray sofa LIFE!! So chic! I gotta have them, like YESTERDAY!

Olivia Palermo has a couple for her sofa...

Sheesha Mirrored Pillows or these

I can't wait to get mine.

Home Update

I've purchased some new furniture...finally. A sofa for the family room and a table for the dining room.

via
Althought nice and seemingly perfect for the room it will be housed, this sofa wasn't my choice.. I wanted something camel colored and a little more tailored but Hubby really liked it's extremely comfortable, "perfect for  loungin' around in the family room" look.

It DOES look comfy. Good job, Hubby!

We compromised.. he picked the sofa and I talked him into re-painting the bookshelves as the black may make the room too dark with the new dark gray sofa.

But I am questioning my choice of re-painting the bookshelves Mulberry by BM.

Do you think it would still look good? Fuschia shelving with a patterned back? I don't want the room to be too feminine.. even though Hubby says he would love a pop of color in our otherwise, black, white and gold/brass color palette of a house.

Here's how it looks now..

Can't get a good pic of the family room.. it's bigger in person than it appears.

Decisions, decisions... *sigh*

Anywhoo.. on to the dining room. I have been searching high and low for a rustic, reclaimed wood, Asian inspired dining room table. I haven't found anything that I liked. NOTHING!!

So I decided to instead look for another equally nice dining table and maybe find a rustic accent piece for the dining room.. like a sideboard or something..

Here's the table:

via
I was really amazed to find this table where I found it. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I saw this table in several other stores/sites for almost triple the price. Crazy town!!

It's not the rustic, reclaimed, Asian-y table I wanted but if I squint hard, it gives me an Asian, Hollywood Regency vibe. I think it will be fabulous even though it will take my decor inspiration in another direction.

Now, if only I could get started with that reupholstery and painting and adding molding and.. and.. and...

Sometimes I feel I will never be done with the first floor. But I must admit, I am enjoying the journey.

Glamourous Gold

I'm glad that I got my home decorating mojo back. I haven't done much since getting the cocktail table for the living room. Sad, I know.

But now, I'm bursting at the seams with ideas but more importantly, the energy for the execution of said ideas.

First up, the biggest game changer.. painting.. the necessary bane of my existance. I know I will be thrilled with outcome so I'll just get over it and do the darn thing.

So, let's set the stage.. I have a back stairway the goes from the kitchen to second floor, which houses my Hubby's office... then finally, up to the third floor. I want to do something bold and stylish in that area and decided on horizontal stripes.. gold and white ones. *squeals with glee*

I had the idea but really wanted to find a photo to solidify my the vision swirling in my head. Color me happy to stumble upon Court & Hudson's blog and their gorgeously gold striped walls.

How ridiculously fabulous is her gold and eggshell white wall? I'm so loving it and can't wait to have this look in my home.

Flirty and Flowy

I'm looking for cute clothing options for my trip to Aruba. I know I will mostly be on the beach working on getting my Vitamin D but I'm sure the Hubby and I will venture out for a romantic dinner or two.

Chasing Cassie Dress
This dress does give me a small pause as I don't like to wear anything without a bra. A little search of the interwebs yielded a great solution:

Problem solved. I like the idea of these silicone lifting and covering stickies. It would be a heck of alot more comfortable than a strapless bra. For me, it's all about being sexy AND comfortable.

What do you think? Have you ever tried  Liftits? Or a product similar?

Spiked Splendor

I'm just sick with non buyer's remorse.. something TOLD me to check my Joss & Main sale notification email yesterday but I was too caught up with my day to day and didn't. I decided to check it today and lo and behold, I missed a seriously FABULOUS, FABULOUS, FABULOUS find!!! *weeps*

Cache Decor Spike Chest
I am so SICK right now that I missed this deal. SICK, I tell ya!! I have a perfect place for it and everything. *weeps harder*

I know I already have a fab vintage mirrored console but I've have been contemplating getting rid of it.

I found this beauty on Craigslist last year and only paid $125.00 for it. Crazy, right? But I'm not entirely sure I want to keep it, prolly because it's a little too Art Deco for my taste.

I may have to bite the stinkin' bullet and purchase the Spike Chest for the full price.. *gasps and weeps more*

What do you think? Should I keep the vintage one I have? Should I buy the Spike Chest?

Brava Italia!

I'm so loving the vintage glam imagery, in the July Vogue Italia, featuring actress Kerry Washington (Have you seen her in Scandal? DO IT!!)

This pic, I especially love because it reminds me of my Mom back in the 70's. Hair, makeup and the fabulous ensemb.. my Mom OWNED that look back in the day. I thought she was the most glamourous mom in the world.

Delicious On A Stick

It was another scorcher today and all I wanted to do was sit in the shade and listen to music. But when my sister made an impromtu visit, I decided to whip up some fun, boozy popsicles for the grown and sexy.

I found some fabulous cocktail popsicle recipes at Bakers Royale. You have to check out this site... beautifully styled and photographed recipes, galore! I had bookedmarked these recipes a while ago and since I had most of the ingredients on hand, I figured I'd give it a go.

White Sangria Poptail

The poptails were easy to make and we finished them off pretty fast... which was kinda bad considering it was only the two of us eating them. Cest la vie!

I really enjoyed the White Sangria poptail, next time I may add bits of fruit.

Have you ever had a poptail?

Wallpaper Crush

Now, that I'm back into home decoration mode, I'm dipping my toes into the wallpapering waters. I would love to find someplace to use this fabulous Scalamandre Zebra wallpaper.

Via

Alot of my home is outfitted in black, golden tones and white, so this would fit in perfectly. But where? I'm pondering one of the bathrooms or maybe the Butler's pantry.

Should I forgo the wallpaper for maybe window treatments? I think they would make pretty badass Roman shades too.

Do you think it's too trendy?
