Lovely Lounger

I'm contemplating weather I want a sofa or a daybed positioned in front of the bay window. There's already a built-in seat but of course it's not comfortable or chic.

I think I want to remove the built-in to make room for a custom daybed to fit into the space. Not only will it be more comfortable but because the seating will fit into the already exisiting space, it won't take up more floor space in the livingroom.

Here are two fab options that I just love:

 Then there's also this option:

A curved arm, tufted sofa.

Hmmmm, decisions, decisions. At this rate and my love of EVERYTHING, I'll never get a room finished.

Before, After, Beaver and Bushes

The exterior painting of the house is complete. Our painters were amazing, they completed the paint job in five days. Although I've never had to have a house painted before, I would imagine five days for an old house that needed lots of preparation before hand, was impressive.

Here's the before, with yellow exterior, white trim and green accents.

Here's the after, gray with white trim and black accents.
=)

The porch with gray primer.. (See that board on the lawn? Story about that below.)

Pretty porch

Side of house..

We have to buy more shutters for those windows on the second floor.. I can't take those windows looking like eyes.

That big hole was caused by a hulky groundhog. The hole is half that size before we put that board over it a few days ago and when we checked the hole today, it was TWICE the size.

I'm scared of rodents.. don't know what I would do if I saw it in person. I have to find out how to get rid of the unwanted guest.

We are currently working on the landscaping, you know, trying to pretty up the front of the house with some pretty flowers and greenery... trying to make everything neat and pretty.

I made a visit to my newest favorite haunt, Home Depot and bought a hedge trimmer and some other things for said prettiness.

Wanna see how the hedge trimming went?

The Hubby is giving it a go... so far, so good.
Now, we have hedges with alopecia.

Can I Have?

I know I'm beating the same drum but this is yet another post about the house.. which the Husband and I, loving call, "Sugarcube".  Backstory: The name came about when I saw my dream, dream house about 3 years ago.. and the street it was on was called Sugarloaf. It was waaaaay out of our budget.. even in our dream budget.

When we found our current house, my Hubby asked me if it was a dream, dream house... I told him, just one dream.. he said, well it can be our Sugarcube.

Ok, trolling the internet is bad for one's health.. the health of the bank account. I've seen some really great things, that in time, I want to add to our humble abode. Wanna see?

I saw this Chinoiserie door and I want something similiar:

I found these double doors on 1st Dibs.. the price wasn't too bad. I may get them in put them away until I figure out where I'd like them. Let the hoarding begin!
I have always loved and wanted a ram's head base desk. They are so incredibly chic.. I can't stand it!

While a desk is not in my immediate future, this little side table may be:

I just love this little table!! I love the juxtaposition of the lucite top and the rustic looking base. A great, unique piece. I like that it's sculptural yet functional.

Speaking of tables, I think I have found a stone table for the patio. I found this on the CL and I'm trying to work the price down because I know I will pay handsomely for someone to transport this 500 pounder to my house.

Lastly, (for this post) I have been DYING to find this chandelier that I have been head over heels for since I first saw it on HBO series, True Blood. I could not find any photos of it on the web and had to resort posting a video.. It's not long... check out the foyer chandelier at :36.

LOVE!!!  Can anyone tell me where to find that beautiful lighting?

Pretty-ing The Patio

I'm firing on all cylinders with the house.. trying to get the inside together as well as the outside. It's too late to plant flowers but I have a plan of action for next Spring. I will certainly need a year to get the funds together.. who knew freakin' flowers and trees cost soooooo much!!

Anywhooo, I would like to have the patio furnished.. something really cute and relaxing and of course fabulous. So, I've been hunting craigslist like a mad woman but nothing has materialized that doesn't look like crap-ola.

I'm really loving these looks below..

So lovin this.. it's perfect. The stone table and nice chairs just screams "Let's dine al fresco!" Where do I find one of these stone tables... and those fab planters for that matter?

This is a really cute look too. I know this would be alot of trouble draggin' the furniture in and out of the house but it's darling.

Really cute too!

Impractical, yes. Fabulous, YES!! Maybe I can reserve this look for a special occasion.

So Many Changes

Hope everyone had a grand 4th of July! Mine was low key and just what I needed after such an arduous move.

We've been having so much going on... we had to have our trees trimmed back because some of the big branches were extending over the house. We had to trim them back because we are having the house painted and didn't want any problems with those heavy limbs falling on the house during a storm.

And we are having the house prepped for painting.... which means lots of sanding and scrapping.. which is loud and kind of annoying but necessary.

I did a little paint sample to see what Sherwin Williams' Classic French Grey

But I think we will go with the Light French Grey....

Also, I'm finally getting from under the massiveness of our moved possessions, trying to put all of the stuff away and playing with the configurations of furniture..

Still have to paint the fireplace black.

Whew, I'm beat.. so much to do...it's seemingly never-ending.. but I LOVE IT!!

New Beginnings

Sorry for being a bad blogger... there's been so much going on. My daughter graduated from high school, we are packing to finally move, STILL painting the house, finally clearing out our 3 storage units... *sigh*

I'm so annoyed with myself because as I began to clear out our master bedroom, I see sooooooo much stuff that I didn't and never needed but had way too much of.. shoes, clothes, coats, bags, hats, makeup...etc. Just TOO much of everything and it just made me sick and mad.

Sick because more than likely I'm going to throw so much of it away. I know I could take it to Goodwill or someplace but more than likely, it's going in the trash because I simply don't have time or energy to do anything else with it.

Mad because when I look at ALL of that stuff, I see dollar signs. I see tons of cash that could have gone towards our retirement, towards savings for immediate needs for the new house, towards anything else besides a bunch of "stuff".

I need to simplify. I need to purge. I need to find joy in accumulating less "stuff". I need to only purchase what I need and treat myself to indulgences ONCE IN A WHILE. Instead of indulging ALL THE TIME.

I believe I will appreciate what I purchase alot more and my closets won't look like they are on the cusp of hoarding.
