Fab Find

So, I was watching the DIY Network as I do almost everyday... they incorporate some of the coolest products in remodels and renovations. That's how I discovered the pre-fabricated door arches, that I just love and can't wait to install in our soon to be house.

Today I discovered floating porcelain tiles! What a fab find!! I know I would like to tile the bathrooms but the thought of tiling has always intimidated me, so this product is right up my alley.

SnapStone is genuine porcelain tile that is affixed to a rubberized backing with extended tabs that fit into the neighboring tile pieces. Kinda like flat Legos.

Seems easy enough.

Another thing I like about this product is that you can install radiant heating under it. I swoon at the thought of getting out of the bath and my tootsies touching a warm floor.

I'm going to order samples of the flooring and the flexible grout and see what's what.

Get In My Closet!

Urban Outfitters
I know it's still Summer and the very thought of leather makes you wanna jump in a cool, refreshing pool but this jacket is smokin'! Look at it's chocolate-ty, supple-ly goodness. Oh and those darling puff sleeves, the perfect foil for some rugged, low slung, haphazardly rolled up boyfriend jeans and the highest stilettos your precious ankles can handle.

European Sensibility

These vanities are lovely!

Ebay

I always thought I was partial to an all white, marble-y bathroom but these options are certainly making me ponder the possibilities.

Wicked Wicker

I never really ever considered wicker.. for anything. It always seemed very "Golden Girls", love the show, the wicker furniture... not so much.

But this, my friends, may have changed my tune:

Sultan Chic

I just love the sunny lemon-y color! How cheery would you be waking up with such a hue? Now, I feel like pillaging my local garage sales for a wicker/rattan headboard.

Happy Happy, Joy Joy!

The house hunting saga may finally be coming to a happy and joyful end. We went under contract today!! Woo Hoo!

Look at her.. ain't she purty? A little plain but Momma will take care of that.

All jokes aside, the Husband and I are very thankful and hope this is the beginning of a new chapter in our adventurous life together.

Wooo Hooo!

I'm doing my very first guest post today. Where, you say?

It's so exciting and it was a little nerve racking.. "What do I say? How do I say it? Will the readership "get" me? What do I wear? Ummm, scratch that last part, but you get my drift. I just wanted to put my best red soled stiletto forward.

Tonia, the incredibly talented editor of, Chic Modern Vintage, was like a Yoda to me and let me go "off the dome". So head on over and check out my lil 'ole post. I'll be forever grateful. =)

Conversation Seat

This chair is so cool!

The Claes Chaise

Wedding Cake?

Does anyone know what this detailed ceiling treatment is called? Sarah Richardson calls it "wedding cake" plaster fretwork but I can't find a reference to that anywhere. It's fabulous and of course, I love it!

I have never seen this type of ceiling detail before... it's so pretty and unique.

Door Couture

House hunting has been all consuming as is shopping for contents of said house. Right now, I'm on a small details kick. How fabulous are these door handles:

 door handles

I just love these door handles. They would be great in a double door scenario... I wonder if I can find something similar in a matte silver finish?

My Spider Senses

A word of caution to everyone who enjoys the spoils of buying and selling on craigslist.org...  Saturday, a man texted me regarding some settees that I have listed on craigslist, he just wanted to know if they were still available. Unfortunately for me, they still are. So he made an appointment to come see them on Sunday. So he calls me Sunday morning to inquire about my address and directions... and because I suck at directions, I had to ask my hubby, who happened to be standing next to me when I took the call.

Ok, fast forward a couple of hours, mind you, he should have been en route from where he claimed he was traveling from... to tell me that he can't make it 'til later because he is having an issue with his plumbing. I said ok, no problem.

So, the hour he was to arrive came and went.. no one came or called. Usually, I wouldn't have sweated it.. no harm no foul.. but this is the thing, I told my husband I need you home when this guy comes to look at the settees... I just have a weird feeling and I don't want to be here by myself.

The weird feeling never left me, so on a whim I called my cousin, a police officer and asked him about the number the person called and texted me from... the number was disconnected and was for a disposable phone!

Now, there could have been lots of explanations for this unusual scenario but I got the WORST stomach ache just thinking how I could have put myself and my family in harm's way. What was this person's intentions? Maybe I watch too many movies but I was a wreck for the rest of the day.

The other story is from the antique dealer, (whom will now sell my settees, because I'm too scared to try it again with craigslist) he told me he went to buy a van from a woman on craigslist and come to find out the lady didn't even own the van!! She was trying to sell someone else's property unbeknownst to them!!!

Talk about a crazy world.

So be careful ladies... first bedbugs now this.. sheesh!

Another One Bites The Dust

I'm bummed... this house hunting thing is EXHAUSTING ME TO DEATH! This will be the 4th house that we really could have loved, that hasn't worked out.

I found it late on Friday night, it was a brand new listing and asked Hubby if he wanted to go see it on Saturday.. he said no, let's go on Wednesday. So I make an appointment with our realtor.. I'm excited.. can't wait. The realtor thinks its a winner.

I get a call today, a contract was put on the house Sunday night. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Colin Cowie

I'm still a wedding junkie, even though I was married almost a year ago. Wow, how time flies! I still read ALL of the wedding specific blogs and publications and basically anything I can get my hands on that's fabulous and wedding related.

Imagine my delight when I saw "Wedding Notes" from Colin Cowie in my Inbox!!! You know I believe Colin to be the bees knees in everything from decor to etiquette, he's just simply fantastic and elegant. So, this is definitely a treat, in my opinion.

Colin Cowie's "Wedding Notes" are fun ideas and fantastic resources as well as introducing us to some of the fabulous friends (vendors) he has come across during his 20-plus years in the business.

I can't wait!!!

Seamless Storage

I'm a stickler for things being in their place and uncluttered-ness. These photos of seamless storage has me clutching my pearls.

I also love the efficient use of slim spaces. I need this in my kitchen.

This laundry room is so perfect, soothing pale yellow color, hidden appliances, lovely french doors... I'm smitten. Those sliding doors are the cat's meow.

I actually enjoy doing laundry, it's so relaxing to me but I know I would enjoy it so much more in this laundry room.

Newest Home Addition

I had been looking for a table for my newly acquired Regency chairs. I knew I wanted something round that extended for the huge holiday dinners and hosting other get togethers. So this beauty what I found:

I think it's a great walnut table! I love the silver gilt around the fluted base.
I can't wait to refinish my chairs and put the dining room together.. so excited. I want to add more modern elements to the rest of the dining room decor so that it's not stuffy but chic and effortlessly fab.

I also need to stop and get some paint samples to find the perfect gray for our walls. I'm partial to Benjamin Moore's Dior Gray, for the lower level of the house:

photo Apartment Therapy

I'm hoping it's a true gray, light and soothing...like this:

photo You Got To See This

My plan is to use paint in a gradient way from the foyer to the back of the house, which will end with the furthest wall in the family room. That wall will be a rich slate gray, creating a greater sense of depth from the front of the house. That's what I imagine anyway.

Any gray paint suggestions? I would love to hear them.

Let's Go Shopping

I LOVE THIS!! It's perfect for a night out on the town.

This is the Bubble Sleeve Romper from Rachel Roy. Although it looks gold to me, the color description is Pearl Gray.

*sidebar* Isn't that model gorgeous? She has such a great look.

I like these dresses by Rachel too:

Fab Finds

You know how awesome you look when you get your eyebrows groomed? You don the perfect arch that frames your eyes, making you look younger, more awake and simply prettier.

Well, that's what I think CurveMakers does for bland doorways in a house... makes the house simply prettier.

CurveMakers makes arch kits:

To this:

Don't you just LOVE that transformation?!?! The doorway has architectural detail that makes it look more elegant and dare I say, luxe? And you know I'm all about the look of luxe... for less.

Which brings me to my next point. They are inexpensive compared to having these arches added say during a build or having a contractor come out to do them for you. Best of all, even with the most novice DIY skills, you can probably do all the entry ways in your house in a day, for a modest price.

Let's see more of CurveMakers in action.

I'm totally sold and can't wait to find a house to arch her "brows".

Get In My Closet!

At first glance, the Christian Louboutin Rollerball Loafers, were not appealing to me but I figured I needed to see them in person before making any hasty judgments.

You can't deny, they ARE interesting looking!

But then I saw them ON and honey, I gotta have them.

I'm so sorry Christian, that I doubted you. These are fabulous and will be adorning my feet soon! They can be my upcoming birthday and anniversary present.

Let's Romp!

Look at these super cute rompers I found. I don't like to spend alot of money on summer clothes, especially trendy pieces. So these finds are right up my alley.

These options are from UrbanOg. Priced reasonably at $23.50 and $35.90, respectively.

I purchased the khaki ruffle romper. I thought it would be a nice, dressier choice for an upcoming baby shower get together. I also liked that the shorts were a little longer.

The more military inspired romper is a fab choice as well, for those into that on trend look. I think it's the same one from Lulu's:

I LOVE how that romper is styled in this photo! That camouflage bag and those shoes, make the romper FIERCE!!
